Car Petroliana

Once you have started to build your petroliana collection it is vital to know what you are going to do with the items. There is no point having them if they are going to be hidden away and forgotten about, so use them to their full potential.

Things such as signs, badges, uniforms and posters can be hung on a wall to create a unique and interesting feature. Ensure they are not in direct sunlight to prevent fading and clean everything thoroughly without the use of harsh chemicals before fixing securely in place.

If you have light boxes or globes, these can be put to practical use as lamps. Have them rewired professionally and properly checked and certified so they are safe to use in the home. They make great features and are a wonderful talking point when guests come round.

Larger items such as pumps and bigger signs will require a dedicated space if they are to be displayed properly. If collecting these things it is best to have a room or garage set aside solely for this purpose so they can be seen to their full potential and do not get in the way.

Whatever you decide to do with your petroliana collection, do it because it is what you want to do. Don’t feel like you have to lovingly restore each item to working condition, just enjoy your items.
